Every Senior Counts!

Apathy is a real problem, and that’s okay.  It might not be the dream of every senior at NC State to stay up until 4:00 AM eating barbeque and protecting the free expression tunnel, but they should all have the choice.  I will do my best to ensure every single senior on this campus knows about all of the senior class events we have planned.

How I plan to keep everyone posted
· Using sandwich boards to post events
· Updating all campus event calendars with senior events
· Creating an official Class of 2008 facebook group
· Getting every senior on a list serve with an easy opt-out
· Posting events to the Wolf Web
· Using departmental contacts to relay messages

Building Traditions

It’s great having new events to get the crowd going, but it’s even more important to build traditions.  To build traditions for the senior class, I want to combine my ideas with the successful programs that were initiated in past years to make senior events bigger and better.  Some of the events I plan to blow up this year:

· Senior Week!  By bringing live music, tons of food, new vendors, more prizes, and exciting activities, I know I can make this week a success.
· Ensuring the senior trip is affordable to more Seniors.  While a two week trip to Europe would surely be the trip of a lifetime, it isn’t practical for many students.
· Senior Games!  As a senator I wrote a bill that guaranteed seniors a ticket to the Senior football and basketball games.  I promise to keep this policy in place.
· The Ram Roast keeps Carolina fans out of our tunnel.  I will work with SG to make sure everyone participating gets plenty of food and great music.
· One of my babies this year in SG was getting tailgating extended.  Next year, I want Seniors to get free food and drinks at the tailgate for the senior game.
· Special deals for Seniors who want to attend the ACC Tournament and other away events to build unity among the class and show school spirit.
· Continue the “Buy-a-Brick” program on N.C. State campus to allow seniors a chance to leave their mark.
· Ensuring the “30-Days Out” is the most intense month for senior events.
· Hold concerts on Hillsborough Street to help build the Hillsborough Hike.

Advocating for Seniors

As Student Senate President, I’ve learned a thing or two about advocacy.  While Senior Class President is primarily an event planner, there are a few privileges I know seniors deserve and am willing to fight for.

· I want to ensure seniors get every opportunity available to them after graduation.  Career Fairs should be aimed that these graduating seniors, not Co-Op Freshmen.
· I want to make sure the Senior Class Council is made up of the most dedicated Seniors.  I will be accepting applications from anyone interested and will not keep anyone on the council who is not willing to work.  I hope to also build a Junior Class council that will continue the legacies we create as Seniors.
· Courses that are required for graduation and popular during senior year should never fill up.  Multiple sections and alternate times will help ensure seniors aren’t help from graduation just because they can’t get into one class.
· Any other privileges the council can come up with, I’m all for.  I’ve established relationships with just about every department and administrative group on this campus through implementing legislation, and I know what it takes to make a change.
